As a speaker, I inspire individuals to own their full power and live authentically. My talks ignite purpose, spark passion, and drive real action toward personal and professional growth.
I’m a native Chicagoan — and I start there because only my parents and my faith have shaped me more than my hometown. I first came to the DC/MD/VA area, where I currently reside, as an undergraduate at Howard University. Since then, I’ve earned a BA and MA from Howard, a PhD from Jackson State University, and a JD from the University of the District of Columbia School of Law.
My professional journey has been both diverse and purpose-driven. I’ve worked in promotions at a major hip-hop recording label, hosted a talk radio show, and made television appearances. In academia, I’ve served as a university professor, senior-level director, and textbook contributor. I’ve represented clients in court and at mediations on employment and housing-related issues, served a U.S. Congressman on Capitol Hill and I spent half a decade working in legislative affairs for the highest governing body in Washington, DC.
I’m an author, editor, and researcher, and I’ve presented my work to international audiences. I'm also the founder of Twenty Tigers Literary, a publishing company and creative workshop platform.
Fun facts: I love reading, writing, and traveling. I’ve lived in 10 different U.S. states and in Paris, France. I once had a beloved cat who lived for 21.5 years- that's 102 feline years! And my husband makes the best sweet potato pie… second only to my grandmother’s.
